Part 1: Ephesians 1

“KNOWING GOD CHANGES EVERYTHING”

SCRIPTURE:

Ephesians 1:17 “I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may KNOW HIM BETTER.

OBSERVATION:

Knowing God…

1. Gives me perspective

verse 17-18 “I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. 18 I pray that the EYES OF YOUR HEART may be enlightened…

Knowing God changes the way I see…

a. Myself

b. My neighbors

c. My problems

d. My stuff

2. Gives me purpose

verse 17-18
“I keep asking that the God… that you may know him better. 18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which HE HAS CALLED YOU…”

Ephesians 1:11 (MSG) “It’s in Christ that we find out WHO WE ARE and WHAT we are living for. Long before we first heard of Christ and got our hopes up, he had his eye on us, had designs on us for glorious living, part of the overall PURPOSE he is working out in everything and everyone.”

3. Gives me power

Verse 18-19 “I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, 19 and his incomparably great POWER for us who believe.”

Acts 1:8 “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes you on you and you will be my witnesses…”

APPLICATION:

How do I know God more?

  1. Study His WORD.

2. Surrender to His WAYS.

verse 21 NCV “God has put Christ over all rulers, authorities, powers, and kings, not only in this world but also in the next. 22 God put everything under his power and made him the head over everything for the church, 23 which is Christ’s body. The church is filled with Christ, and Christ fills everything in every way.”

Matthew 7:21 ““Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ 23 Then I will tell them plainly, I NEVER KNEW YOU.”

verse 21a “Only those who do the will of my Father in heaven”

3. Get involved in His WORK

God we want to know you more. We want to see things the way you see them. Live for your purposes, experience your power!
