Time Capsule- Integrity

What is Integrity?

INTEGRITY: WHEN YOUR BEHAVIOR MATCHES YOUR BELIEFS.

Proverbs 10:9. "The one who lives with integrity lives securely”

1 Peter 2:12 “Conduct yourselves honorably among the Gentiles, so that in a case where they speak against you as those who do evil, they may, by seeing your good works, glorify God in a day of visitation”.

Where is Integrity tested?

  1. In tempting circumstances, stay away

1 Peter 2:11 “Dear friends, I urge you as aliens and temporary residents to abstain from fleshly desires that war against you”

Genesis 39:6-11
So Potiphar left everything he had in Joseph’s care; with Joseph in charge, he did not concern himself with anything except the food he ate.
Now Joseph was well-built and handsome,
and after a while his master’s wife took notice of Joseph and said, “Come to bed with me!”
But he refused. “With me in charge,” he told her, “my master does not concern himself with anything in the house; everything he owns he has entrusted to my care. No one is greater in this house than I am. My master has withheld nothing from me except you, because you are his wife. How then could I do such a wicked thing and sin against God?” 10 And though she spoke to Joseph day after day, he refused to go to bed with her or even be with her.
11 One day he went into the house to attend to his duties, and none of the household servants was inside. 12 She caught him by his cloak and said, “Come to bed with me!” But he left his cloak in her hand and ran out of the house.

2. In authoritative situations, show respect

1 Peter 2:13-14, 17 “Submit to every human institution because of the Lord, whether to the Emperor as the supreme authority, or to governors as those sent out by him to punish those who do evil and to praise those who do good. . . . Honor everyone"

3. In the work environment, stand for what is right

1 Peter 2:18 “Household slaves, submit yourselves to your masters with all respect, not only to the good and gentle but also to the cruel".

4. In suffering, seek God

1 Peter 2:19 “For it [brings] favor if, because of conscience toward God, someone endures grief from suffering unjustly”.

Who models Integrity?

Jesus lived a perfect sinless life.

Jesus showed us that greatness comes through humility and serving others.

Jesus defeated the very problem that causes some of our modern day role models to fall.

Luke 23:4 "I find no grounds for charging this man".

1 Peter 2:21 “For you were called to this, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you should follow in His steps”.

What are the Benefits of Integrity?

1. YOU CAN WALK CLOSELY WITH GOD.

David asks in
Psalm 15:1-2
Who may worship in your sanctuary, Lord?
Who may enter your presence on your holy hill?
Those who lead blameless lives and do what is right,
speaking the truth from sincere hearts.

2. YOU’LL HAVE A BUILT IN GUIDE.

Proverbs 11:3 “The integrity of the upright guides them, but the unfaithful are destroyed by their duplicity.”

3. YOU’LL HAVE A CONSTANT PEACE IN YOUR HEART.
